Featuring intricate linework, bold colour choices and the wonders of the natural world, join us as we plunge deep into the mind of a local artist who goes by the name of Further Earth.
We asked the artist…
My work is colourful, fun and full of hidden intricacies!
What inspires you?
I am hugely inspired by 70s and 80s sci-fi illustrators – Moebius and Chris Foss in particular. My Dad gave me the 1978 book ’21st Century Foss’ as a youngster and I have been hooked ever since! I am also absolutely enthralled by nature and colour – foliage, sunsets and the sea are a constant source of wonder for me.
What materials do you generally use?
My preferred medium is pen, pencil and paint markers!
What’s been your favourite project to work on so far?
My piece ‘In Every Universe it’s You’. I created it for my very first exhibition with the amazing Grateful Arts Club and the theme was ‘Love’. This piece is so personal and done at a time of huge change for me, it will always be extremely special and captures a lot of emotion.
What are you currently working on?
At the moment I have a couple of things in the pipeline – I am scaling up my work for a wall mural, hopefully have a collab with a fantastically talented illustrator coming up and am working on a Further Earth solar system!
Where can we find more of your work?
You can find me on Instagram @further.earth or you can head to my website – www.furtherearth.co.uk. If you are interested in my work you can get in touch through either channel!
