Maria Tilt:
I Am Alive
We love that Artsmouth is a free gallery for such interesting and talented artists, so please keep sharing our exhibitions, and do tell any artists you know about us!
We asked the artist…
My work is conceptual, often quite abstract in content, but expressive in style. I use limited colour palettes and I’ve seemingly settled on red as my preferred colour! It makes my images bold, but perhaps quite jarring.
What inspires you?
My painting is predominantly influenced by my own personal experiences of emotions. I use art as a way to explore thoughts and express things that are difficult to understand sometimes. However, some pieces are inspired by particular people in my life, and others are explorations of concepts I’ve read about and have interested me.
What materials do you generally use?
My work is all digital. I use a Wacom Intuos graphics tablet to create my paintings in Adobe Photoshop.
What’s been your favourite project to work on so far?
I don’t have any one favourite project, but I’m lucky to have had the opportunity to work alongside a variety of very talented creatives. I’ve particularly enjoyed working collaboratively with local musicians and music venues, creating album artwork and promotional materials.
What are you currently working on?
I’m actually just about to get started on a new musical project, creating some album artwork for an up and coming band.
Where can we find more of your work?
You can find me on Instagram (@mariatiltartist) or over on my Facebook page (Maria Tilt Artist).
