Rotating Reality

Call us crazy, but we are more than happy to let Megmayo draw us in to her alternative universe, where we have to leave all logic and sense behind.

Dark but humorous, her colourful digital drawings are often based on personal experiences and are not for the faint-hearted!

We asked the artist…

How would you describe your work?
My art is straightforward colour and line work that creates fictional characters and scenarios. They are all open to interpretation and each person sees each piece in various ways. My work uses no logic but sometimes is based on my own experiences.

What inspires you?
Others artists. The support and drive of other artists encourages me to better my art further everyday. I like to think of my characters as an alternate universe where everything doesn’t quite function properly and nothing really makes sense. This helps me personally and inspires me to make my art as there’s no pressure for sensibility or sanity like there is in the real world.

What equipment do you generally use?
The majority of my work is digital, using Procreate on my iPad Pro. However, I like to experiment with acrylic painting and clay sculpting.

What’s been your favourite project to work on so far?
Recently, I painted a small garden mural piece on a shed door, I’ve enjoyed recycling worn-out features and giving them a new look.

What are you currently working on?
At the moment I’m working on a fun home project which involves interpreting peoples bizarre or meaningless dreams, and making them into art. This gives me an insight into other’s imaginations and gives my work a story without having much sense in it at all.

Where can we find more of your work?
I mostly post my work over on Instagram @megmayoillustrations and I also have a website,
