Steve Armon:
Cardboard Canvases
Take a trip down memory lane, with this quirky, nostalgic collection of images from local painter Steve Armon.
As an artist known for his accomplished paintings on canvas, Steve surprised us with these playful studies on scraps of cardboard!
We asked the artist…
How would you describe your work?
Upcycling, recycling, retro cardboard art!
What inspires you?
Presently I’m working from old back & white photos with an authentic atmosphere! They are great and it’s fun to put your own ‘twist’ on them!
What materials do you generally use?
Cardboard! And acrylic paints.
What has been your favourite project to work on so far?
The Pompey girls outside of Fratton Park were great fun to paint.
What are you currently working on?
A set of 1970s drink bottles – keeping the retro vibe going!
Where can we find more of your work?
You can find my work in the White Dog Gallery in Southsea. Plus I’m on Instagram as @stevearmonart and you can find me on Facebook as Steve Armon. I also have a website on its way!
